Below Hook Handling Devices

J. Herbert Corporation offers a wide range of below the hook handling devices.  Types include slings, spreader beams, vacuum lifters, grabs and tongs, coil lifters, and pallet lifters.  Specialty devices are also available.  Below are just some of these devices; our Customer Service Department can provide more information regarding variations depending on your application.

Bushman® Model 439 Spreader Beams feature fixed position swivel hooks mounted at the ends of the lifting beam.  This particular model includes a single pick-up point and two hooks with safety latches.  Options including low headroom designs, multiple hook locations, special capacities and lengths.

Caldwell® Strong-Bac® Model 16 - Adjustable Spreader/Lifting Beam uses a 2, 3, or 4 point lifting or spreader beam alternative.  It converts to a spreader beam with the addition of top rigging.  This design has adjustable lifting points and can handle both wide and unbalanced loads.  Options include a pair of swivel hooks, chain top rigging, and cross beams.

CM® Cady Lifters® - Paper Roll Lifting Beams are ideal for lifting rolls with shafts running through the inside diameter.  "J" hooks can be fixed or adjustable to accommodate rolls of varying lengths.  Pivoting hooks are also available.

Caldwell® Univac® Vacuum Lifters are able to lift long, wide and/or thin material quickly.  Single pad and multi-pad inline models are also available.  Standard features include ball mounted vacuum pads, brass fittings, push-lock hose designed for 250 psi, individual vacuum pad slide valve for manual isolation, and spin-on type muffler.

Bushman® Rotating Drum Lifters feature manual and motorized rotation models with up to 2,000 pounds full drum capacity.  Each device allows for pick up, precise rotation, and controlled pouring operations.

Caldwell® Rig-Master® Vertical Drum Grabs are ideal for handling closed or open steel drums.  With an 18"-24" range, this vertical grab can lift up to 1 ton capacity.  Note:  Not used for pouring or tilting of drum.

Caldwell® Rig-Master® Model RLT Rail Tongs are designed to handle all standard size rails with up to 2 tons rated capacity.  They come with a non-slip machined diamond face gripping pad.

Caldwell® Strong-Bac® Heavy Duty "C" Hook Coil Lifters handle a wide range of coil widths.  Designed for heavy duty applications, they are composed of high tensile alloy steel plate, which reduces physical size and weight.  They are counter-balanced to hang level and are available with optional padding for additional coil protection.

Bushman® Fixed Fork Pallet Lifters are constructed with single and double vertical members.  Composed of high strength steel, they are also designed to hang level when empty and when properly loaded.  Options include low headroom design, fixed, hand wheel, or motorized fork adjustment.

Caldwell® Posi-Turner® Posi-Lite® Systems are designed for the lifting, suspension, rotation, and positioning of objects.  An operator uses a hand held pendant or remote control to lift, level and rotate the object without re-rigging.  They are available to handle loads from 500 pounds to 1,500 pounds.  Heavy Duty Posi-Turner Systems are also available with capacities up to 150 tons.
