VFD - Variable Frequency Drives |
|
Variable
frequency drives, also known as adjustable speed drives or
inverters, help regulate motor acceleration by providing initial
low frequency and voltage currents that increase at a slower,
controlled rate. When used on bridge, trolley or hoist
applications, the VFDs offer smooth, ramped acceleration and
deceleration. This enables motors to run cooler, allows
for greater equipment control, increases load spotting benefits,
and ensures a soft starting and stopping of the equipment.

frequency drive features and benefits. |

IMPULSE® G+
Series 3 |
|
 |
IMPULSE® G+
Series 3 - The latest generation in advanced control technology
after the Series 2. It is used for traverse motions and in
hoists with worm gear and mechanical load brakes. Suitable
for CMAA Class A-F service, it comes standard with a speed range
of 40:1 in V/F and 100:1 in Open Loop Vector. It is also
equipped with up to 6 distinct speeds, 2-step infinitely
variable, 3-step infinitely variable and analog signal
capabilities. Other features include Load Check™, to
reduce the possibility of lifting an overload, Quick Stop™ to
reduce possibility of crane collision, phase lose detection,
motor lead reversal, stall prevention, programmable fan, and
many other benefits.

IMPULSE® VG+
Series 3 - Also part of the latest in advanced control
technology, it is used for traverse motions and in hoists with
non-mechanical load brakes. The VG+ Series 3 is suitable
for CMAA Class A-F service, is available with a speed range of
1000:1, with up to 6 distinct speeds, 2-step infinitely
variable, 3-step infinitely variable, and analog signal
capabilities. It can be used as a Closed Loop Vector crane
control. Some of its features include phase loss
detection, Load Float™ (for allowing a load to be held aloft at
zero speed without setting the electric brake), Loadshare for
the use of two or more motors on the same drive shaft, snapped
shaft detection, Roll-back detection, Load Check™, and Quick
Stop™.

IMPULSE® G+
Series 2 and IMPULSE® VG+ Series 2 |
 |
IMPULSE® G+
Series 2 and IMPULSE® VG+ Series 2 - Both models are limited in
availability, but will continue to be serviced until 2012.
The G+ Series 2 is commonly used for traverse motions and hoists
with load brakes, as well as NEMA A or B single speed, squirrel cage
induction motors. The VG+ Series 2 is used for traverse
motions and hoists with non-mechanical load brakes.

IMPULSE® P3
Series 2 |
 |
IMPULSE® P3
Series 2 - Compact in design, it is suitable for CMAA Class A-D
service, has a 40:1 speed range, three speed control methods
with up to 5 distinct speeds, infinitely variable control, and
analog speed reference. Ratings are 380-460 VAC, ½ to 10
HP, and 200-230 VAC, ¼ to 10 HP. It is typically used for
traverse motions and hoists with mechanical load brakes and worm
gearing. Some of its features include motor thermal
overload protection, Quick Stop™ to reduce the possibility of
crane collision, Swift-Lift™ for overspeeding with light loads
or empty hook, and quick programming capabilities.
